Our program was designed by Pamela Nathan who was born in Johannesburg, South Africa where she obtained her B.A. in Psychology from Witwatersrand University. She earned a graduate degree in teaching and counseling.
While raising three children, all of whom suffered from serious allergies and severe life threatening asthma, she desperately branched out of main stream medical practices into realms of alternative medicine. This led to post-graduate work at Lindlahr College of Natural Therapeutics, South Africa, where she earned a degree in Homeopathic medicine.
It was during this time that Pamela was introduced to the practices of transcendental meditation and yoga. She continued to explore complimentary health practices which finally culminated in the emergence of a health center.
Pamela immigrated to California in 1979. She was recruited to assist physicians by the newly formed California Clinic of Preventive Medicine. She continued her studies and gained Board Certification in Oriental Medicine. Pamela co-founded Ecology Medical Clinic, where she was both the administrator and a practitioner.
Pamela founded her own center, Ecology Health Center, in 1992 and was able to further explore the various techniques and practices that enhanced health and well being. In 1996 and 1997 she co-authored research studies on the effectivity of her Stress Management Program, together with Steven Brody MD and Michael Lydic MD. It was presented at 2 annual reproductive medicine meetings. The studies documented a dramatic 42% and 43% reduction in subjective stress level scores. The same program was then extended for use with male patients suffering with a variety of conditions ranging from depression & anxiety to high blood pressure and weight management.
Pamela’s unique approach to complementary health care combines both Western and Eastern philosophies using both techniques & supplements that promote long term benefits.
Through behavior modification and education participants in her program see remarkable improvements in their sense of well being.
